Scott Schuman.

Yes Scott Schuman is Stylistocrat by R&R’s most influential person in fashion next to Anna Wintour (who will always reign supreme).

Why???

Well Scott is also known as The Sartorialist. Yes that Sartorialist!!!

Essentially what Scott does is roam the streets of New York City and take photos of interesting people that he meets, with an emphasis on their fashion. If anything, Scott Schuman is less a fashion photographer and more of a street photographer with an eye for fashion. He started his eponymous blog six years ago and since then has garnered a tremendously loyal and devoted fan base. He has received numerous press accolades, and has been named one of Time Magazine’s Design 100 as a major design influencer. He was also listed as the # 1 Fashion and Photography influencer in American Photo in 2008. In 2009 he was listed as one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business.

Dovetailing a career in photography with his prior career in the fashion industry, Scott has turned his unique ability to see trends and fashion on the street into one-of-a-kind assignments for various editorial and advertising clients, driven by his democratic viewpoint on fashion. In addition Scott has become a much sought after commentator for his opinions on style and trends in the industry. Pure and simple, if you get shot by Scott… you know your fashion.

Ok so his Wiki bio reads as following:

He’s a regular contributor to GQ and Style.com. In addition, he is represented by James Danziger of Danziger Projects for fine art photography and has collaborated with Colette in Paris.

His editorial clients to date include GQ, GQ Style UK, Interview, Fantastic Man, Vogue Paris, Italian Elle, Vogue Pelle, British Elle, Style Piccoli and Italian Glamour. His advertising clients have included Burberry, DKNY Jeans, GANT, Holt Renfrew, Saba, Cidade Jardim and Absolut Vodka.

Plus as you see in the above title photo, Scott’s first published book, The Sartorialist, by Penguin in August 2009, is a beautiful anthology of Scott’s images from around the world. In conjunction with the launch of his book, Scott curated a special pop-up stores with Barney’s New York and Liberty of London.

I think we can all draw inspiration from Scott and strive to capture the beauty of everyday life. If you look through his photos, he doesn’t necessarily take photos of people who only wear high-end clothes such as Prada or Gucci–rather the ordinary everyday people on the streets who are able to put together bits and pieces to create their own unique style.

Now to us that’s Stylistocratic!!!

#1???????? thats a tall stretch even for Scott. He’s influential, but #1? I disagree. Ralph Lauren is ahead of him in my opinion.
