STYLISTOCRAT BY R&R PROFILE ON STYLE —– MS. NICOLE JONES FROM HONESTY

June 30, 2011

1

Hotlanta has always known of the “Southern Girl” with southern roots…but now the Big Apple does as well. Nicole Jones is indeed HER own person! The wife of standout and future MLB Hall of Famer Andruw Jones, never shy-ed away from the fashion limelight that so many do… she embraced it. As well she should with a background that includes a fashion degree!

“I originally wanted to be a retail buyer, but ended up in real estate, …. after the market went bad I decided I wanted to try something else”. What that something else ended up being was her own jewelry line with business partner Chantel Watkins. Ms. Watkins came with years of experience in marketing within the music industry and the pairing of these two became a perfect match.

Thus HONESTY JEWELRY was born!

Nicole and Chantel came up with the idea and name “HONESTY” because, ” I wanted a one word name that we could expand upon. Plus if everyone would be more honest, we wouldn’t be in the positions we are in today”. Well said Ms. Jones.

So Stylistocrats, the small town girl, did make it big as she shuffles between Atlanta and NYC (she stated she once was a little fearful of the city in her much younger years). Make sure you take a peep around as you just may see her from time to time in the front row of your major fashion shows… and why not… She’s a Stylistocrat Style Icon!

Lets see what NJ had to say when we sat her down for our one-on-one…

Best Stylistocratic advice from your parents?

Wear clothes that fit. People that have to constantly pull and adjust their clothes look uncomfortable and awkward.

My Style icon is/are?

Rachel Zoe. I love classic, eclectic styles and she has it down!

What is your personal style signifier?

Color and accessories. I love color and of course accessories. I always throw in a splash of color in my outfits. Accessories can change a whole outfit and make it dressy, casual, bohemian chic etc. I build my daily look around- whatever is on my agenda for the day. If I am casual I will throw on a Rebirth Tee and jeans. If it is lunch with the girls or a business meeting I will glam it up a bit. I always have on my HONESTY bracelets.

The one object I will never part without?

My clutches and my lip gloss. Don’t touch either one;).

Personal Style quirk:

I like to wear lace lingerie under my tops and let them peek out from the bottom a little. The lace adds a sexy element and unexpected style twist.

Favorite designers:

Shoes- of course Louboutins, clothes- Gucci dresses look and fit great on me, Taverniti Jeans do wonders for the booty, Tt tops, Helmut Lang, All Saints. Bags-Louis Vuitton, Chanel.

The one artist who’s work I would collect if I could?

I collect Antique Maps. No particular artist, I just have to like the piece.

I feel best wearing?

Dresses and heels.

The first thing I look at in another Stylistocrat’s outfit?

If it fits well. Too many women choose outfits that are too small and are just wrong for their body type. I love when a women knows what looks good on her and rocks it right! For a man… Nice shoes and a proper hemline on pants. Nothing worse than pants that are too short on a man or too long.

I always break this fashion rule.

White after labor day. I love my white jeans and I am not giving them up because a holiday passed!! Nope not gonna do it. I never break this fashion rule. I always break the rules.

The people I rely on for grooming and style are?

My husband has great style so I always like to know if he likes what I am wearing. I depend on me for grooming and ultimately style is whatever I like.

Never caught wearing?

Granny Panties!!!

Most underrated item in menswear/womenswear?

Menswear… Please please put a beater on under your dress shirt men! And I love cuff links, adds that finishing touch. Women… Nice lingerie, an ill-fitting bra can totally screw up a beautiful top. What is underneath is just as important as what is on top.

Dress to impress who?

Truth… Women dress for other women.

Shine your own shoes?

I don’t shine shoes or have them shined.

The most unforgettable place I’ve travelled in the past 3 years is?

Napa. The quiet in Napa Valley is unlike anything I can describe. Complete serenity.

The best souvenir I’ve brought home?

Hmm… That is a tough one. No clue.

Your next “must have” purchase???…

Not eyeing anything at this moment but it will most likely be a pair of shoes.

If I had no limit, the one store or area I would luv to hold my shopping spree?

Paris

I skimp when buying?

Makeup-Drugstore Maybelline Mascara can’t be beat!

Book by my bedside is?

I never tell!!!

The last music I downloaded is?

Some old school Keith Sweat, I love my Keith.

I splurge on?

Shoessssss

Gave Oneta Bobbett a Louis Vuitton sequin, burnout speedy bag for her birthday.

My husband gave me an Aston Martin DB9 convertible for my birthday.

The Site that impresses me is? My favorite website???

http://www.facebook.com/l/b89928fAJEsegNAuIyv_Mu3Trew/www.honestyjewelry.com

Nicole_Glove_HONESTY

Cologne, skincare?

Lalique, Quel Que Fleurs

Most stylish city (Milan, Paris, London, Miami, New York, other)

Paris, so romantic and sexy.

When I was high school I wore?

DKNY, Armani Exchange, Guess

In my fridge you will always find?

Coca-Cola

Sports?

Baseball

Favorite fashion magazine?

Vogue

Favorite vacation spot?

Any Island

The one city I’d die to live in?

I am pretty happy right where I am, but I would LOVE to live on the beach, not across the street or close to the beach, ON the beach.

The last meal that truly impressed me?

I recently had the most delicious meal on a friends yacht in the Bahamas. The food tasted so good that I wished that I was eating alone so I could have as much as I wanted!

Lastly…. If I weren’t doing what I’m doing now I’d be…

Miserable. I love HONESTY and I could not have ever dreamed of a better business partner than Chantel. I was in real estate before starting HONESTY and I hated every minute of it.

And there you have it! Thanks Nicole for a great one-on-one!!!! Now, the only thing we need to change is your favorite website to Stylistocrat.com, at least let us share… with all Honesty! :) LOL

Wassup Melodie. It’s Reggie, thanks for writing! You killed it at the YSL show! I’ll let you know if I do MB Fashion Week again this year. It’s just not the same for me since it left Bryant Park.

We usually have Al-Karim covering it for us since he’s our NY Rep and Style Director.
