STYLISTOCRATS GET TO KNOW… HAITI’S OWN…RON-N-RON
July 20, 2010
From Haiti, With Style And Flair! Stylistocrat by R&R has known of these two identical twin brothers from Haiti for years… we just realized we haven’t share the knowledge with our readership as of yet.

Mr. Ronald Delice usually arrives early on most days to his SoHo clothing store before his brother, Rony who is incredibilystylish but usually runs late.
These two have a shared taste for $700 shoes, $300 belts and classy jeans? It’s a twin thing we suppose, having grown up in Haiti and Brooklyn in a household where Mom and Pop both sewed. ‘They always dress alike, Every day, even without even calling each other believe it or not.

Now the brothers, are trying to get a lot more people to dress their way, having designed a line of upscale suits, sweaters and shirts for their own collection called — what else? — Ron and Ron. These 2 started as salesclerks at Beau Brummel in SoHo back in the day; they then went from selling suits by Hugo Boss to getting closer to being their own bosses, with the backing of the store’s owners.

Avram Goldman saw his own journey reflected in the brothers’ lives. He himself came to the United States from Israel, and started in the basement as a stock boy when Beau Brummel was in Queens. When the store moved to SoHo, he did, too. Now, as part owner of Ron-N-Ron, he has taken the brothers under his wing as they accompany him to fashion shows and design houses.

As children, these brothers were used to seeing their father sew pants and jackets for them. Their father had worked for the Haitian Government, but took up the needle when times got tight.
In 1976, their father moved the their family to Brooklyn, where the young brothers discovered freedom through fashion.

Too bad they entered Erasmus Hall High School right when baggy hip-hop looks were in style. In a sea of Kangol caps and Adidas sneakers, the brothers took to the halls in pressed pants, polo shirts and Stan Smith sneakers from Macy’s or Barneys.
”The kids used to think we were a little on the shaky side,” Rony said. ”They didn’t think we were straight. Not everybody in high school was dressing up the way we dressed up.”
Soon enough, even the hip-hoppers noticed how the brothers got all these compliments, and they started asking for dress-up advice.

As it turns out, the only thing that’s in the brothers’ closet is their investment: lots of shoes, belts and ensembles they began putting together soon after they started working at the SoHo store a few years ago. The two of them would take something off the rack and start making changes to it: converting double-breasted suits to single-breasted, adding peaked lapels or loosening up the lines.

As in their Brooklyn days, the brothers found that enough customers in SoHo were asking them where they got their clothes. The constant questions prompted Mr. Goldman and his business partner, Stephen Gutman, to back the brothers in their own line. As you can see Stylistocrats, they are making it very well!
